Time plays a significant role in our life. If you understand the value of time better, you can gain experience and develop skills over time. Time is the most valuable resource because you cannot take it back.
How you spend your time, affects you. Who you spend your time with, changes you. There is not a thing on Earth that can escape the clutches of time. You never know how much time you have left on earth.
10 Important tips to spend your time wisely:
1. Start each day with a thankful heart
We have so much to appreciate in life. Don’t take anything for granted. See every second as a new opportunity. Enjoy every precious moment by being thankful. Be thankful for the small things, like being able to see, hear, love, walk, etc. Make sure you appreciate the beauty around you and take time to see a sunset or sunrise. Take time to write down once a week the 10 things that you’re thankful for. You will realize that you have so much more than you think you have.
2. Spend your time by prioritizing what really matters
Ensure that you spend time on what matters most to you and don’t lose the entire day reacting to other people’s priorities. Decide on the most important things and make that your priority. Prioritize your day, drink a cup of coffee early in the morning, listen to your favorite song while driving to work, send a message to your favorite human being and make sure you prioritize the activities planned for your day.
You need to live a balanced life and by prioritizing you make a choice of what’s the most important things for you. Invest your time in the things that are good for you that feels good and decide what really matters. Live and prioritize for today only. Tomorrow will have its own priorities.
Matthew 6:34 – "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own".
3. Spend time with God
Talk to God while you’re getting dressed. Make sure that you worship God throughout the day. God holds your future, and you can find rest in the knowing that he wants you to spend your time with him. Getting to know Him, reading, and believing his promises. Time with God is when we seek, we worship, we don’t wait anymore for a specific time, we keep on praying and trusting His time with our lives.
When we walk with God, it may not make things easier, but it makes things possible. Walking with Him gives us assurance of his presence and power in our lives. He’s the creator of everything and we need to trust Him with writing our story to glorify Him. Our time is not His time. Living in hope and faith brings peace and joy to our situations. If you’re in the spirit, and you spend time with God, you’re not under time anymore. Use your time to do everything for Him, through Him.
4. Make time to spend with your loved ones
A person who is here today can be gone tomorrow. Spend as much time with the people you love. Arrange family get-togethers, pick up the phone and call your loved ones, keep them updated on your life and share with them what you go through. You need to have a support system. Your loved ones are the people who will always be there for you, no matter what. Make sure they know that you appreciate them and make time to spend quality time with them. Cherish the time you have with your loved ones.
5. Make time to keep a positive mindset
Live your life without overthinking your decisions. Write down your goals, the person you want to be or want to become. Your mind is so important, keep it set on positive thinking rather than making space for any negative thought. Write down your thoughts, emotions and write down the promises of God. Keep reminding yourself of the truths. Use your time to fill your thoughts with truth and keep your mindset on the things above. You will bloom when your mind is filled with truth and positive thoughts.
6. Take time to help others
How much you’re able to do for someone in a little amount of time, shows the importance of time. Spending time to help others can change their life. Add value. Give. Help. Contribute. Learn from others. Become a better person, willing to serve, by giving to others even when you feel like you have nothing to give.
Try to change your perspective to see where people need your help, support, or even just a listening ear. Make sure you surround yourself with people who are good for your soul. Invest in healthy relationships with others and shine your light by just being yourself when spending time with them. Your presence can light up another person’s bad day. Be real, be nice and make sure you see the need around you. People need you. Remember that.
7. Make time for yourself
If your cup is empty, you have nothing left to share with others. Make time to spoil yourself, whether it’s a small gift, taking a long bath with candles, reading a book, treating yourself with your favorite food, or taking a walk along the beach. Spoil yourself by making yourself a priority in your busy schedule. You need to make sure your cup stays full. Take time to enjoy yourself, don’t let it slip through your fingers. Invest the time into doing something productive and good for yourself.
8. Allow time to teach you
The lessons learned through seasons in your life, highlight the importance of time. It takes time to make mistakes and even more time to learn from them. Experience is what builds your character and morals. The pain of ten years ago is probably not the pain you carry today. Don’t be too hard on yourself, let time teach you to grow.
Allow the past to teach you, don’t look back, but learn from your mistakes and reach to be a better person. Don’t live with regret, rather live with even more compassion as you learn from the past. Remember that God’s timing is always perfect. God’s word has never failed, and it never will.
Psalm 31:15 - "My times are in your hands".
9. Use your time wisely by managing your time
There are only 24 hours in a day. Nothing more. Nothing less. Time management skills can help you in every walk of life. There is so much that we need to accomplish and so much we need to achieve that wasting time doesn’t serve you. When you have a full-time job, you can’t expect to achieve big things when you don’t have much time.
Manage your time to eat healthy, exercise, and watch your favorite tv-series. You will feel even better when you manage your time and make time to relax after a long day. Take time to get your mind off a full day’s work, even if you’re a stay home mommy, make sure you manage your time to achieve your goals. Squeeze every second out of the day and make it efficient. Set your goals and push to your dreams.
Psalm 90:12 - "Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil”
10. Treasure time
We can learn from the past and look forward to the future, but the only time that is important is the present. Appreciate every moment because that is all you have. Don’t let time scare you, rather see it as a gift and appreciate every second of it. Don’t compare your story to anyone else’s. Your story is written for you, for this time, now, today! Treasure your situation, treasure what you have for today, and make it count.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” – Steve Jobs
It’s true that your time is one of the most important things in the world. Nothing in life is permanent. Time should be cherished like the precious resource it is rather than thrown away. Appreciate your time and use it wisely.
